5 great ways to reconnect with your Besties

It’s been a long and lonely year for all of us, with only brief moments or opportunities to socialise with friends & family that predominantly happened in the summer months. And although we can be thankful for technology and video calls to keep in touch, it’s certainly not the same as quality time together in real life!

Most recently I’ve been acutely aware of how little I hear from some of my closest buddies and I’m constantly worried that we’re slowly losing touch. Though I realise in reality, it’s more likely that we are all just feeling completely burnt out by the constant change in our routines and endless lockdowns. It can feel almost impossible to find the time or energy to make those connections or think of something nice or fun to do at the moment.

This was the motivation behind my Stars Friendship Bracelet letterbox gift, I wanted to send something meaningful to some of my closest friends who I’d just not seen this year at all. Something to remind them that I still treasure them dearly, and to say that I’m always there for them if they need me - even if I’ve seemed a little distant at times.

So it got me thinking, what other fun things could I do to reconnect with my besties? And here’s what I came up with…

  1. Throw a virtual cocktail party

Nio Cocktails in the Post

Who doesn’t miss a good girls night out with sequins, cocktails and sore feet from too much dancing?! Ok, so maybe not the sore feet, but the fun hell yes! So why not throw a ‘girls night in’ Zoom cocktail party with mandatory dress code of sequins & glitter even if it is with PJ bottoms!

There are quite a few online companies who sell cocktail kits, and Nio Cocktails have a fabulous selection of cocktails to choose from. You can build your own box of 3 cocktails for just £19.50 - all pre-made and ready to drink, just add ice and a fancy glass! You and all of your guests could agree to choose the same cocktails to sample together, or just build your own unique box.

And if you’re on a bit of a budget you could always put something together yourself and post out cocktail kits to your friends.

2. Start a book club

Start a Book Club with Friends

In real life it’s all about those shared experiences as friends, so whilst we’re starved of those occasions why not take an adventure together through reading by starting a book club.

There’s obviously no limit to how many friends can join here, just as long as this time you read the same books at the same time! Taking time to share and talk about what you’ve read and experienced together as a group once everyones finished the book!

And if you really want to take your book club seriously and onto the next level then there’s a great platform that can help you out called Bookclubz . This platform is considered one of the best free apps for helping to manage a book club.

3. Share a mix tape of memories

Send a mixtape of memories

We all have a soundtrack to our lives don’t we, especially from some of the best times that we’ve probably shared with our most treasured friends. So why not put together a mixtape from down memory lane! This could be a CD if you’re able to create one using your laptop or computer or you could easily put together a playlist on Spotify and share with your bestie very easily via email or text message.

I reckon this would be just as much fun to create as to receive don’t you think? Music is so powerful it can take you to all sorts of places and conjure up so many wonderful memories! What a fun and thoughtful surprise to receive!

4. Come dine with me online

Why not host a remote dinner party where by you take it in turns to set the menu! Choose the recipes for your starter, main and desert and share them with your guests for them to cook themselves. Then enjoy a little dinner party via Zoom!

You can find lots of lovely dinner inspiration online and if you’re looking for something tasty and super easy (to suit all levels!) then why not check out some of these lovely recipes from Delicious Magazine.

Or if you’re feeling a little lazy or perhaps even a bit flush and you’re up for something a little fancy, then its definitely worth checking out some of your favourite restaurants as there are lots of places are doing ‘dine at home’ menu’s like Rick Stein for example.

5. Mail a heartfelt letterbox gift

There have been all sorts of online companies popping up offering the most wonderful lockdown letterbox gifts to cheer up your loved ones, and this one is definitely one of my favourites for affordable gifts.

Do let me know if you try and of these out! I’d love to know if you and your besties enjoy them!
